This book reminded me of the memories of my childhood that had been pushed aside. The Sunday Night Showers in the family residence. Sunday NFL Countdown with Chris Berman. My little sister’s speech was impeded, so the family always cheered, not for Denver, but for Denbird, her not yet able to pronounce the ‘r’. Turning all the lights in the house off, creeping down the stairs, anxiously awaiting our dad, the Monster, to scoop us up, run us back up to his room, where we all would lay together quietly, waiting for the other Monster, our mom, to come find us. Laying in my parents huge bed, listening to my dad read me stories.
Everyone should read this book. Then reflect. Childhood is amazing and shouldn’t be forgotten.
